How to make Iced Butterfly Pea Flower Tea

Iced Butterfly Pea Flower Tea is Thailand’s magical blue drink. Add a squeeze of lime and watch it turn purple! Refreshing, colorful, and fun—it’s summer in a glass.

Ingredients

  • 100 ml hot water
  • 4-6 dried butterfly pea flowers
  • 1-2 tsp sugar or honey (to taste)
  • 1 tbsp of lime or lemon juice (optional, for purple color)
  • Ice cubes (1glass)

Instructions

  1. Brew – Steep the butterfly pea flowers in 100 ml hot water for 5 minutes until deep blue.
  2. Strain – Remove flowers.
  3. Sweeten – Stir in sugar or honey while still warm.
  4. Cool – Let it reach room temperature.
  5. Serve – Pour over ice cubes in a glass.
  6. Optional – Add a lime/lemon juice for a blue → purple color change.
